FHL-FILMS CREW CHECKS IN FROM AK

Our buddies from Telemark Magazine and FreeHeel Life Films check in with an update from their journey up North to Alaska. Looks to me like the boys had one hell of a time. Here's a blurb from Andrew Schauer:

So here we are, enjoying an airport marathon-style ending to what has turned out to be the kind of ski trip that we all dream about. I have been up in AK with Dave Magoffin, Spencer Jonas, JT Robinson, John Gurry, and the lovely Cody Smith for the past two weeks, and we have absolutely crushed some of the mountains in the Chugach and the Talkeetna range. We saw almost every kind of weather that one could expect this time of year, with some super dry snow, plenty of sun, some rain, and some scattered clouds. Temps were all over the map, with some coldish days, but finishing with a few days that were almost tropical. The snowpack went from stable to borderline scary and back again, and we ended up skiing almost every day we were up here. Sure, we had a few down days, but while the old boys were snuggled up in Dave’s yurt in Girdwood, Spencer and I were able to whip up a little pump track in the woods to keep us entertained until the weather broke. Some unexpected instability in the snow kept us on some smaller terrain for a few days, but we were still able to ski some killer mini-golf style lines, and once we were done at some of these zones, there literally was no line left unskied. We also were lucky enough to get some great turns in at Alyeska, and we hit it right. It was my first time skiing the resort and they had great snow while we were there. That place is rowdy.

The crew has been awesome. I watched JT crush big lines like it was no big deal. Dave is a maniac, and I am pretty sure that the little switch in all of our brains that lets us know when to be scared just doesn’t work with him. Teen heart throb Spencer Jonas slayed some seriously huge lines and he basically didn’t stop skiing the whole time we were here. It was obvious that the bar was set high and it just kept getting bumped up as the trip progressed. We got some great shots in and have ended up with some really good footage that will be popping up in the fall. Until then, here are some pictures we took during the past two weeks.
