"My name is Andre and I live in Vancouver, BC. I keep running into one of your Surface Team Riders - Eliel Hindert, on all the best Powder days. He hooked me up with a pair of Live Lifes a couple seasons ago and I've been loving them ever since. My submission is from four days of epic Powder Touring from Dec 27-30 on the Duffey Lake Road, Pemberton and the Blackcomb Backcountry. Southwest BC ended up being THE blace to be to ski for the holiday break as everywhere else on the Continent was hurting for snow. It probably dumped at least 6 feet during these four days and the footage shows this. We followed Eliel into a sweet pillow zone on of third day which is the source of a lot of the epic drops-to-face-shots in the video. There were a couple fatal avalanches around Pemberton during the time this was filmed - that is why we are in the trees most of the time. Always remember to ski hard but ski safe!

I'd call myself a Working Class Hero now becuase I struggle to get 10-15 days per season now that I'm a full-time professional. However, having the luxury of living within 2 hours of the two hills that consistently get the most snow in North America - Whistler-Blackomb and Baker, I pretty much only go up when I know I will ski powder all day - frontcountry or backcountry. I grew up in Vancouver, learned to ski at Baker, moved to Fernie for a Winter when I first finished High School, and ripped Whistler-Blackcomb, all through my University Years. I've got my secret lines at every ski location within 100 miles of Vancouver and hope to keep skiing the goods for my token 10-15 days per season for decades to come.

The film was made by me for Trips for Kids Vancouver Society - which is a Vancouver-based non-profit who provides access to the outdoor for inner-city Vancouver Youth via a summer Mountain Biking program. I'm a board member and we'll be looking for submissions for our second-annual HelmetCam Film Festival, so stay tuned to our webiste in the film to submit - only if you're skiing on Surface Skis of course!"
